RJ Living is a furniture and homewares company based in Melbourne. It has up to 30 brands, a medium inventory, with a demographic straddling middle market and premium. As one of the lead designers I was tasked with re-skinnning and strategising the experience, while taking into account the functionality of the chosen Shopify plus theme, plugins and apps.

First impressions aren't always the best impressions, but when it comes to websites, they can. 75% of users acknowledge correlating a company's credibility with its design. Thats two-tenths of a second for a potential customer to judge your brand, based on your website. That pressure falls on the homepage. Navigation is crucial for the performance of a website. While a delightful and strategic homepage welcomes new-users, good navigation can cater for both new and return-users. We faced the task of organising and presenting a substantial volume of product information and data in a manner that would enhance the user journey. This involved optimising our e-commerce section by including features such as personalised delivery calculators, Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options, real-time in-stock alerts, comprehensive product details, and supplementary information on product quality and origin. And that's just the product page.
The objective was not only to tailor the shopping experience for users but also to emulate an 'in-store' experience. Our approach involved proactively addressing emerging shopper needs and navigating trust barriers associated with ordering high-priced products online.
